The tea tree is a tree native to Australia whose parts have been used against a variety of skin and health problems for centuries. For example, the Aborigines used it to heal minor wounds and prevent infections on them, while nowadays, the oil is commonly used against skin problems including acne, eczema and psoriasis. Today we’re going to show you how to use tea tree oil against common skin problems:
Minor cuts and wounds
If you have minor cuts and wounds on your skin, you can use the oil to accelerate the healing. Tea tree oil has antibacterial, antifungal and antiseptic properties which can clean the wound and boost the healing process, while also preventing infections.
Acne
If you have acne on your skin, tea tree oil can help. Thanks to its antibacterial and antiseptic properties, the tea tree oil can eliminate acne from your skin and prevent it from coming back. Mix a few drops with a bit of honey, then apply the remedy on your face and leave it to work for a couple of minutes. Rinse with water in the end and you will successfully get rid of the stubborn acne.
Psoriasis and eczema
Tea tree oil has powerful anti-inflammatory properties which can work wonders against eczema and psoriasis. For best results, apply a mixture of coconut, lavender, and tea tree oil (few drops each) on the affected area and let your skin soak it in.
Toenail fungus
The antifungal properties of tea tree oil work great against toenail fungus. Just apply a few drops of the oil on your toenails every day to defeat the infection. If it’s severe, we suggest mixing it with a bit of oregano oil first.
Improves your oral health
Mix some tea tree and coconut oil with some baking soda and swish the mixture in your mouth to destroy the bacteria responsible for tooth decay and bad breath as well.
Eliminates scalp infections
If you’re suffering from dandruff, tea tree oil is your best bet for resolving it. Mix some with a bit of coconut oil, Aloe Vera gel, and lavender oil, then rub your scalp with the mixture in order to resolve the infection.
Cleaning agent
The powerful antibacterial properties of the tea tree oil make it a great cleaning agent for all surfaces. Mix it with a bit of vinegar, lemon oil and water and you can clean your kitchen and shower appliances easily.
Eliminates mold
Spray some tea tree oil diluted with water on your shower curtains and walls to eliminate mold and prevent it from coming back.
A great deodorant
Body odor is usually caused by an overgrowth of bacteria which can’t be suppressed by deodorants. However, the problem can be resolved by rubbing a mixture of tea tree oil, coconut oil and baking soda on your armpits.
Although safe to use for any age groups, the oil is toxic to children. It shouldn’t be used on sensitive skin as well. In order to determine if its safe for you, you can test a bit on a small patch of your skin. If there’s no reaction, you can proceed using the oil.
